Linguistic And Cultural Cooperation
One of the roles of the Alliance Française Palmerston North is to support the teaching of the French language in New Zealand schools and universities.
Towards this end, we offer a variety of services and events to French teachers who want to help their students learn the French language and experience the cultures of French-speaking communities:
- Alliance Française visits: The team is happy to welcome you and your class for a tour of our French community library and cultural centre in complete French immersion!
- French classes at school: We can set up classes in your kindergarten, primary or secondary school. All our classes are interactive and incorporate fun activities, such as drama, crafts, music, role-play and plenty of lively and popular games. We can also deliver a teaching programme based on the Educational Outreach Programme Alliance Française French Film Festival.
- French school trips: We are able to organise a school trip or school workshops in relation with French culture (exhibition, cinema, theatre, …).
- Quiz and games sessions: We can organise quiz and games sessions at Alliance or in your school, either during the day or in the evening for interschool competitions.
- French workshops: We can set up tailor-made workshops to suit your students’ ages and levels (experience French culture through its gastronomy, by making crêpes for example).
- Participation of school students in community arts: Photo contest, Fête de la musique, master classes and art workshops (music, theatre, mime, …)
- French films: We can set up the screening of a film or several short films in French with English subtitles. We can also book special sessions for your class at the Alliance Française French Film Festival.
